Disability care and prevention
These volunteers will teach patients and their family, friends and caregivers self-care techniques to help avoid disability and improve their condition.
Chikwawa is a ‘hot spot’ for Lymphatic Filariasis with over 600 people suffering from the disabling and stigmatising consequences of the disease, and as it used to host a leprosy colony, Chikwawa is also home to a high number of people with leprosy disabilities.
LEPRA Health in Action is still the only NGO working on Leprosy in Malawi and the only NGO to provide training for disability management in Lymphatic Filariasis.
Please donate now to support this work. We rely on the help of people like you to make sure we can continue with our important programmes here and around the world.
