Edinburgh to St Andrews cycle ride 2011

The 31st LEPRA Health in Action Edinburgh to St Andrews charity bike ride will take place on Saturday 18th June 2011.

Edinburgh to St Andrews cycle ride 2011
In 2010 an amazing 1,200 cyclists participated in this annual event which takes place over the 68 miles between Edinburgh and St Andrews and raises much needed funds to support the work of LEPRA Health in Action. This year our target is to raise £50,000!

I did this ride myself a couple of times in early 80’s. Might be nice to stretch legs again.

Does this year’s ride have a minimum ammount that needs to be raised for the charity?

nicolettedawson says:

Hi @Dicky Dee,

Thanks for contacting us about the Edinburgh to St Andrews Ride. There is no minimum amount but the bulk of the money we raise is through sponsorship so please feel free to collect as much as you can!

Just got my info pack and it says that the return bus drops you off somewhere in Murrayfield. Why not back at the start? Thats seems a bit strange!

nicolettedawson says:

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your message. There is a reason behind this, it is because this is as close as the police will allow us to take the 6 double decker buses and several large trucks with the bikes in to the centre of Edinburgh. What happens is that everyone gets dropped off, lays claim to their bikes once more and those who have left their cars etc at the start generally cycle back the short distance.

Hope this helps, and that you have a great day!

Peter Gray says:

Well worth supporting. I am always pleased that it all happens without the fuss attached to running events etc, although Lothians & Borders Police could do more to control traffic lights near the start. But we love them anyway. Good luck tomorrow and let’s hope the rain holds off!

Many thanks to Tam and helpers at Pitscottie. A welcome sight near the end of a long, wet and windy ride! A brilliant effort!
