Malaria awareness in Ixcan, Guatemala

The municipality of Ixcan in Guatemala is one of the regions in the country where malaria is most endemic. LEPRA strengthens the national prevention and control methods to reduce the numbers of people affected by malaria. Its main focus is on vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and children.
The project works towards improving prevention, control and treatment of malaria in some of the most rural endemic indigenous communities of Ixcan and the nearby municipality of Fray Bartomolé de las Casas. The project aims to create a social consciousness among the population for the prevention and control of malaria.
