No Man is an Island
On 31st May, Andreas Palikiras ran the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for LEPRA health in action.
Spinalonga, “The Island” featured in Victoria Hislop’s novel of the same name, has become the latest destination offered to honeymoon couples by Andreas’ ethical online company “Ionian Weddings”. Touched by the tainted history of this beautiful island due to its former use as a leprosy colony he chose to use his marathon place to raise money to help other communities affected by the same disease.
“Running for LEPRA made running my third marathon much more meaningful” Andreas remarks. Andreas continues to promote LEPRA through his work. Our thanks, not only to him but to all our runners who help us to raise vital funds for our work fighting diseases of poverty.
