Poor rural communities in isolated areas of the country have little or no access to basic health services. The initiative encourages indigenous communities to exercise their right to health and to demand access to improved basic healthcare services.

A network of community volunteers is trained to carry out malaria prevention activities in their villages. These include draining of stagnant waters, provision of bed nets and informing the population about the risk of malaria.
